For people out there interested in the pagan path who are particularly drawn to Voodoo, Hoodoo, Santeria there are relatively much fewer sources compared to Wicca.  For every 10 Wicca books you get one semi-reliable book, for every 10 Wicca websites you get a crazy Voodoo-wannabe. There are quite a few know it alls out there in the world of Voodoo with large elaborate websites, brands, forums etc. I am distrustful of these people with an enormous internet presence.  There are very few people I refer clients to if they are seeking help but for one reason or another can't do that service with me and they are ALL local women in botanicas around LA or locally based in New Orleans with a French or Creole background and grew up in the religion.  In fact I would tell someone that they would be better of trusting spell services from a Wiccan at a their local new-age shop than these so-called self-taught highly-researched Voodoo & Hoodoo nerds. All the reading, collecting, and sifting through old backpages adverts for love spells can't make you an effective or trust worthy witch. The truth is many customs in this kind of rootwork is found in knowledge passed on through oral history, anecdotes and rituals from one generation go to the next.  The things I know, I know because they were taught to me as FACT. And it is in this belief that my magick is charged.  It was not a taste I acquired over time. Now, don't be mistaken, I am not knocking those who wish to learn the path but I am stressing the importance of getting authentic teaching.  It is more than just a recital of steps but being taught HOW TO connect with the elements, deities, and saints which embody this spiritual practice.
